Disney Look for Less – Princess Jasmine Dress Up

Princess Jasmine dress up DIY

Isabella is just starting to take an interest in the Disney Princesses and playing “dress up” so I made her a Princess Jasmine outfit.  The Disney store has a cute one for $45, but we knew we could make one for whole lot less.

The pattern is vintage McCalls 2893 with elastic added in the pants hem, a non fraying sparkly organza “cape” attached to the back of the top and overlaying the pants legs, and some gold metal trim added at the waist.  You can make something similar by starting with one of the free peasant top tutorials online, such as this one at Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom.

Fabrics were from Hancock fabrics and pattern was a thrift store find.  Total cost was about $10.  The gold trim was the most costly part of the outfit, but Isabella loves the sound it makes when she is dancing around the house.
